"One of the most important pediatric books to appear in the last decade…A veritable treasure…The pros and cons of each mode of therapy are skillfully discussed in a practical way." (JAMA, rev. of the last ed.)This thoroughly updated classic text covers the full range of pediatric diseases, with special emphasis on management and which methods work best. Maintains the steadfast tradition of Sid Hurwitz’s ground-breaking work. * Management focus - Focuses on management options, pros and cons of treatment options. * Comprehensive - Covers every pediatric disease in enough detail for the non-specialist. * Clinical - Focuses on patient diagnosis and management. * Annotated references for additional reading. * Format makes it easy to use and to understand.

Customer Rating: Summary: Too Comprehensive? Comment: This is an excellent comprehensive and beautifully illustrated pediatric dermatology tome. As such, it should be particularly useful to specialists in this area. As for value to the primary care provider, it may be a bit much. I like to maintain a library of various pediatric subspecialty texts in addition to the standard Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics. Given so many areas to cover, I like to keep these in a price range not much north of $100, and preferably under that. So, while this is a superb text, my preference as a primary care provider is for Weston's Color Textbook of Pediatric Dermatology. It is organized well, illustrated nicely, and priced better. It is also sufficient for all primary care needs. If it's not in there, it merits a dermatology referral.
