(ContentDesk) July 18, 2006 -- The July issue of Paint Horse Journal featured the cutting-edge EDNA test as a solution for recovery of lost or stolen Horses. The Industry Watch section of this affluent subscriber-magazine called EDNA, A cutting-edge test that may provide more than just an equine DNA fingerprint.EDNA, which means Equine Deoxyribonucleic Acid, is a full spectrum genetic DNA analysis of the Horse for identification purposes. The University of California is the primary testing facility for Wall Street Detective Services, using their acclaimed Genetics laboratory at the Davis campus. Private Investigator-Raymond Sigler, owner and developer of the EDNA testing method said, Horse owners and breeders alike, have the misconception this is the same thing as parentage verification. We actually include paternity analysis free when horses are EDNA tested.

Many breed associations unknowingly use only paternity for their membership and registration paperwork. The EDNA test doesnt show that a Horse is one in 10,000; it shows that it is the same Horse. Like Humans, no two Equines have the same DNA.Use of DNA is considered prima facie evidence in a court of law and is now being applied using EDNA for the Horse. This can now prove absolute and unique identity for any horse, whatever breed. EDNA results are under the direct supervision of Wall Street Detective Services, which maintains this all-breed DNA registry. EDNA registrations or results are confidential and meet the legal chain of custody requirements in the US, or many developed countries.

Two major EDNA test goals are; no Horse left behind and maintenance of an accurate hi-tech tracking system for diseased or stolen animals."Mr. Sigler recently quoted in another interview stated, The EDNA test will soon be for the Horse, what the VIN number is to the car..
